Insanity Asylum Review

Hey gang, Joey here. You don’t know me, but if you’re reading this Insanity Asylum review, then we’ve got a lot in common. I was always a competitive athlete in high school. I competed in football during the fall, track and field during the spring season. I wanted to keep my mind and body as fit as possible.

This earned me a close-knit group of friends, not to mention smoking hot girls, my whole life. I felt at the peak of fitness, but there was something preventing me from getting to the next level. I was a starting receiver, don’t get me wrong, but I wanted to be able to excel faster than ever, dodge every hit and leap higher than ever before.

When I was running on that track, I wanted to shave seconds off my time and win more blue ribbons than the previous year. I played well in college, although I wasn’t eligible to go pro. It’s a whole other ballgame there!

Once I graduated, a huge void opened up in me. I hit the gym hard, but I wanted to go back to those kick-butt workouts I had with my coaches. The answer to reawakening my fierce competitiveness — and getting the workouts I had been missing — is all right here in my Insanity Asylum review.

What I Got…

The first thing I want to tell you about in my Insanity Asylum review is the obvious – what you’re getting with the Insanity Asylum program. When my package arrived in the mail, I found 6 DVDs:
-Speed & Agility
-Vertical Plyo
-Relief
-Strength
-Game Day
-Back To Core

You’ll also get…
-A Cross-Training Workout Calendar
-A Guide Playbook To May Out Your Step-By-Step Transformation
-A Nutrition Plan
-Athletic Performance Assessment Tools
-15-Minute “Over-Time” DVD

Who Designed This…
According to the packaging, this kit was put together by a former track-and-field star, Shaun Thompson, who competed at Rowan University. Don’t think he’s just some yahoo athlete, though… he also earned his B.S. in Sports Science. His minor in Theatre & Dance didn’t hurt either.

He’s worked with the LA Lakers and appeared on a number of TV shows from Ellen to Good Morning America. You might recall that he’s the same dude who created the successful “Hip Hop Abs” video, “Rockin Body” video and the original “Insanity” DVD. Insanity Asylum is just an off-shoot of his Insanity video series aimed at professional athletes.

Pros & Cons…
What Insanity Asylum review would be complete without running through the pros and cons? After my first week, I was ready to tell everyone I knew about this amazing program. I think the biggest testimonial of all is that it WORKS! After just 7 days of training, I felt I was really running faster, jumping higher and becoming more agile.

Mentally, I was feeling the same way I felt after a hardcore professional sports team practice. I could never get to this level on my own at the gym! You’ll sweat just watching these DVDs! I like that Insanity Asylum came with the nutrition guide and playbook too, so the whole system was really straight-forward and easy to use.

The only con is that some of the maneuvers – especially with the agility ladder – are a little tricky at first, so you might need to slow it down a bit, rewind, and check yourself. Remember, you want your perform to be PERFECT – not only so you get the maximum workout, but also so you don’t hurt yourself.

How To Get It…
Now that I’ve got you all excited with my Insanity Asylum review, you’ll be happy to know I won’t leave you hanging. I’ll tell you how you can get this satisfying 30-day workout program. Just visit the website here, pay 3 monthly installments of $29.95 (plus $14.95 shipping and handling, as per usual), and enjoy the next 30 days of athletic training!

If you’re not totally happy with your first 30 days, you can get your money back, which is cool. When you’re done, do what I did – send your before and after photos in for a free Asylum t-shirt!

Why Insanity Asylum is Better than P90x

Click Here for the Cheapest Price on Insanity Asylum

You’ve probably heard the rumors, but you’re wondering why Insanity Asylum is better than P90x. At one time, I wondered this myself. After all, I thought Shaun T and Tony Horton were both part of that whole Beach Body crew.

I know I’ve talked about this before about why Insanity Asylum is better than P90x but I can’t stress enough why it’s so much better. It takes less time to get better results. I know it sounds crazy and probably like a scam, but seriously it’s not. This stuff is for real. You can’t beat the results Insanity Asylum gives in such a short amount of time. Not 90 days of working out, but 30 days.

At first glance, both programs seem to be promoting similar things. After all, both give you a set of rigorous DVDs, a basic nutrition guideline and a fitness calendar. Having done both, I’d say you’d really have to try them to experience the difference, but here’s a brief run-down, in my opinion, why Insanity Asylum is better than P90x

Reason #1 Why Insanity Asylum Is Better Than P90x: The Focus

First of all, I like that Insanity Asylum is focused on professional athletes, rather than body builders. I know that Tony Horton isn’t about “bulking up” like some of the extreme body builders you see, but even so, most of us at home just want to tone up and reach our peak natural body shape more than pack on additional muscle mass.

Reason #2 Why Insanity Asylum Is Better Than P90x: The Price

Insanity Asylum sells for 3 installments of $29.95, plus shipping and handling. You receive 6 DVDs, a workout calendar, a guide playbook, a nutrition plan, 2 bonus DVDs (Assessment Testing & Over-Time), the agility ladder and the speed rope. The kit comes with a 30 day money-back guarantee.

The P90x sells for 3 monthly installments of $39.95, plus shipping and handling. You receive 12 DVDs, a workout calendar, a fitness guide, a 3-phase nutrition plan, a video overview of the program, and free online support. The kit comes with a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Even though you get more DVDs with P90x, I feel the agility ladder, speed rope and bonuses are a better value with Insanity Asylum. You really do get all you need with the Insanity Asylum kit and the bottom line is it’s less expensive even if you buy the upgraded kit with the chin-up bar, stirrups and resistance bands.

Reason #3 Why Insanity Asylum Is Better Than P90x: The Simplicity

I didn’t like how P90x had three different phases for the nutrition plan. Let’s just get down to brass tacks! They also promote vitamins, supplements and all sorts of things I’d rather not buy. Insanity Asylum gives you more freedom to make your own choices, while giving you an easy-to-follow guide.

Reason #4 Why Insanity Asylum Is Better Than P90x: The Results

Insanity Asylum is designed to be a more rigorous routine than P90x because it offers noticeable results in just 30 to 60 days, compared to P90x’s 60 to 90 days. After Insanity sold as “the hardest workout on DVD,” Insanity Asylum ups the ante.

Many people have wondered – Insanity Asylum vs. P90X … which is better?

Insanity Asylum vs P90x: The Workouts

The Insanity Asylum DVDs are more targeted to professional athletes, with 6 workouts: Speed & Agility, Vertical Plyo, Relief, Strength, Game Day and Back To Core regimens.

The P90x DVDs are targeted toward body builders, with 12 workouts: Chest & Back, Plyometrics, Shoulders & Arms, Yoga, Legs & Back, Kenpo X, X Stretch, Core Synergistics, Chest / Shoulders / Triceps, Back / Biceps, Cardio X, and Ab Ripper X.

Even though P90x is targeted more towards getting built and for body builders I liked the Insanity Asylum program much better. The reason is that with P90x it takes 90 days to get the results that Insanity Asylum provides in 30 days. P90x I had to do a 90min workout every day and with the Insanity Asylum I only did about 50min workouts every day.

I had more time to do other things with Insanity Asylum and I had better results. The intensity of the Insanity Asylum workouts are much better than those of P90x. As well I didn’t have to go out and buy more equipment to do the workouts for Insanity Asylum like I had to with P90x. In my books the Insanity Asylum workouts are much better than the P90x workouts.

Insanity Asylum vs P90x: The Nutrition Plan

The Insanity Asylum nutrition plan is very basic and easy-to-follow. Shaun T spells out how you’ll make better choices and fill in the easy chart with your proteins, whole grains, fruits and veggies and recovery shakes. You don’t need to buy any specific brands or overpriced convenience food. You even get a few great recipes to try.

The P90x nutrition plan is a little more complex. There is a Phase 1, 2, and 3. First, you’ll go through the “Fat Shedder” phase to melt the pounds away. Then you’ll move to an “Energy Booster” phase to balance your carbohydrates, fats and protein consumption. Lastly, you’ll move into the “Endurance Maximizer” phase where you focus on complex carbs and lean proteins.

Insanity Asylum vs P90x: The Creators

Shaun T graduated from Rowan University with his bachelor in sports science. In school sports, he was just as adept at football, baseball and track as he was in theatre and dance. He’s best known for bringing you best-selling fitness videos like “Hip Hop Abs” and “Insanity.” The idea behind his latest series is to improve fat-burning, heart fitness, muscle toning and agility.

You may recognize P90x’s Tony Horton as “the Nordic Track Man” or on Playboy Channel’s “360” show. He found his love for fitness at the University of Rhode Island. When he left school to pursue his acting career in California, he began to frequent “Muscle Beach” in Venice, where Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno used to work out. That’s when he decided to develop the P90x system of interval training, which would keep him lean, yet muscular.

The Insanity Asylum results are off-the-hook!

What You’re Doing with Insanity Asylum…

You’re doing speed and agility work. You’ve got your speed rope and your agility ladder. You’re working on coordination with your jump rope. You’re doing bear crawls, criss-cross power-jumps, and hop-scotch precision work. Forget about boring DVDs full of crunches. This is the real deal!

There are so many different types of workouts that are done in the DVDs it’s hard to name them all. But when I work out I am in a constant state of movement and heavy breathing. My coordination as well has improved dramatically because I’m always moving quickly and have to place my feet or hands in the perfect position to be able to do a workout. So my body has naturally adapted to having to place my feet and hands perfectly very quickly.

The first time I really noticed there was a difference was a couple weeks after I started using Insanity Asylum. I was out playing Ultimate Frisbee with my friends and one of my good buddies told me that he normally picked me to guard because I was slower. But that that day he couldn’t keep up with me. He said he noticed I was a bit more on guard. When he said I was more on guard I internalized it as being more on point and agile.

Who Sees Insanity Asylum Results…

You’ll achieve excellent Insanity Asylum results, whether you’re in high school sports and looking for a secret weapon to win state titles or you’re a “weekend warrior” who is into urban triathalons and mud runs.

The Insanity Asylum program is pitched to coaches and athletes alike, swimmers and wide receivers, fans of “Hip Hop Abs” and fans of “Insanity.”  If you want to burn over 600 calories in just one hour, then you’ll find the Insanity Asylum results are money!

Why Insanity Asylum Results Work Best…

Most DVDs are just that – fitness workout routines, nothing more. You get a great workout and you’re left to fend for yourself when it comes to food. Nothing is left to chance here. To get Insanity Asylum results, Shaun T knows you need to have enough food to fuel up your body, recover after these strenuous exercises, and keep a lean profile.

With the Nutrition Guide, the Step-by-Step Transformation Playbook, the Cross-Training Calendar, and the DVD set, you’d better be prepared to see Insanity Asylum results!

Best of All…

You receive a Fitness Assessment DVD that shows you how to measure your Insanity Asylum results to track your progress! You can measure your fitness based on: Agility Heisman, In & Out Ab Progression, Pull-Ups, Push-Ups, Mountain Climber Switch Kicks, Agility Shoulder Taps, X Jumps, Moving Push Ups, Agility Lateral Shuffles, and Agility Bear Crawls.

Not only will you be able to measure yourself against these metrics, but they also recommend that  you take “before” and “after” photos, and send them in for a free Insanity Asylum t-shirt!

Insanity Asylum Nutrition Plan

Click Here for the Cheapest Price on Insanity Asylum

The Insanity Asylum nutrition plan is a general guideline that helps you eat the right foods while firming up, pushing your body to the limits, and improving both strength and agility.

This is really important. I used to believe I could eat whatever I wanted and just workout and I would be fine. That is absolutely incorrect. I had to find out the hard way. I loved drinking soda and I still drink a little bit here and there. But I came to find out that soda actually dehydrates the body and makes it harder on your system to be efficient at working out.

For example runners don’t drink soda because it kills their metabolism and their ability to run. Ask any biker, runner or person who does cardio workouts; drinking soda will kill you on your ability to get an effective workout. That’s why it’s so important to understand what to eat. Now I love In ‘n Out burgers and I can’t give those up, but that’s not all I eat. I do make a salad that I enjoy and other foods that are healthy, give me nutrients and taste good.

Not everyone feels they need a nutrition plan – and that’s fine too, but if you’re in-the-dark about eating, then you will find Shaun T’s plan to be really helpful in achieving your goals. The important thing is to fuel your body with what it needs to sustain itself during these rigorous exercises, and also to provide the right minerals and nutrients necessary for your body’s recovery.

Basic Principles of the Insanity Asylum Nutrition Plan:

The “Get Shredded” nutrition plan recommends that you take the following basic steps…

-Eat frequently (at least five times a day).

-Eat your biggest meal for breakfast and eat a smaller dinner.

-Limit your portions to what is specified on the product’s packaging.

-Eat lean protein.

-Carbs are fine, but choose good ones like whole grains and fruits.

-Avoid fattening dairy like cheese.

-Hydrate – drink tons and tons of water! Skip soda.

-Limit alcohol. It’s fine in moderation, but abstain to see maximum results.

-Good fats are okay, so eat nuts, peanut butter, and a teaspoon of olive oil here and there.

-Add recovery supplements like protein shakes.

Counting Calories or Ratios With The Insanity Asylum Nutrition Plan…

Some people like to count calories and gauge their diet that way. You may have heard the numbers “1,200” for women and “1,500” for men thrown around, but when you’re so physical, you need to ramp up those numbers slightly to fuel your body. In the Insanity Asylum nutrition plan, Shaun T outlines a 1,500 (women) or 1,800 (men) calorie plan.

You’ll even get some excellent recipes with his recommendations! If you’re a ratio person, as a general rule, you’ll be eating around 40 percent protein, 40 percent carbs and 15 percent fats, give or take a few percentage points.

What I like about the Insanity Asylum Nutrition Plan is that it gives me everything I need to get on track with a healthy lifestyle!

What Comes in the Insanity Asylum Packet

Click Here for the Cheapest Price on Insanity Asylum

People are always asking me what comes in the Insanity Asylum packet because most fitness crews have access to all sorts of equipment like bar bells and resistance bands. Let’s face it: No one likes a DVD where they’ve got to invest in all sorts of gear. You’ll be happy to know you don’t need to pay extra or buy anything else. What comes in the Insanity Asylum packet is EVERYTHING YOU NEED to succeed!

I used to do P90x and that was the big thing that I hated about it. I didn’t have workout stuff in my apartment because I was used to going to the gym. I didn’t always workout at home. But because I didn’t want to pay for and move around lots of weights and exercise equipment I never bought any. I hated on P90x how they would just jump on the pull up bar out of nowhere and then go to the dumb bells.

With Insanity Asylum they sent me all the equipment I needed to be able to go along with the DVD without a problem. I didn’t have to go out and buy all the equipment on my own investing more money into the product. Now I’ve got everything I need to do all the workouts and I can do it all with ease.

If anyone else is like me, I like to get my money’s worth when I buy stuff. They equipment that is given in the Insanity Asylum packet is worth way more than what I paid for it. For example a pull up bar can cost up to $50 for the kind that slip into doorways. However this one came with the pull up bar at a way cheaper price than if I had bought my own at Sports Authority or something.

What Comes In The Insanity Asylum Packet: Helpful Guides!

Wondering what the Insanity Asylum calendar is all about?

The Insanity Asylum Calendar
I’m a fitness junkie. I love keeping track of my progress to keep me psyched and motivated. The helpful Insanity Asylum calendar lets you check off each workout completed. You can also use it as a guide to know when to use each DVD.

The Insanity Asylum Calendars are available on my website on the pages above. You can copy them and print them out to get more copies if you’re interested. The packet comes with the calendars in it so that you don’t have to print one off.

I highly recommend tracking progress because if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have realized how much I had come along in my agility and speed. It’s like putting a goal but not know how close you are to it. It’s ridiculous. It is a huge advantage to know exactly where you stand during the workouts and knowing what is left and what you need to do to reach the goal.

At first I found it troublesome to track everything because after workouts the last thing I wanted to do was look at paperwork. It’s worth it; bring yourself to do it so that you can actually see the results number-wise. If you really don’t care for that, then just do the workouts, I personally guarantee that you’ll get more tone, slim down, get faster, and be more agile. It’s a promise.

You may look at this and say, “What?? Working out 7 days a week for a month… are you crazy??” Yet, if you look carefully, you’ll notice Days 5 and 22 are rest days, plus there are easier relief days on 10, 14, 18 and 28. You’ll find the core days are not as strenuous in cardio, but they’re still pretty tough!

The Daily Nutrition Tracker
In addition to the Insanity Asylum calendar for workouts, you’ll also get the Daily Nutrition Tracker handout, which you can fill in each day. You’ll find it’s super easy to eat right when you have a helpful guide like this. Writing your meals in ink makes you more accountable, so you’re less likely to indulge in that extra slice of pizza or piece of chocolate cake when you know you’ve got to write it down! While this isn’t pitched as a weight loss plan, many people choose to use the Insanity Asylum as a way to shed pounds while improving overall fitness and agility too.

The Insanity Asylum Fitness Test
So now you’ve got the Insanity Asylum calendar… and the Nutrition Guide… and now you’ve got a way to measure your progress with the Fit Test print-out. The included DVD will show you just what you need to do to measure each metric. Tracking your progress will keep you pumped and more likely to continue achieving results.

The Bottom Line:
The Insanity Asylum calendar, Daily Nutrition Tracker and Fitness Test are part of what makes this program so unique compared to other ones on the market: IT REALLY IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE!!!

Insanity Asylum Workout

The Insanity Asylum workout is a powerhouse fitness regimen that whips your body into shape within just 30 days – not only making your body more toned and tight, but also making you more agile, quick and precise.

In the videos with Shaun T it looks like he does everything with ease but after the workout gets going it’s easy to see how tired he gets too and how much he sweats during the workout. This at first discouraged me because I’m not the most agile or quickest guy. However after a couple weeks of going at in on the Insanity Asylum workout I was able to keep up with Shaun T without a problem.

I thought I was a really fit guy until I tried the Insanity Asylum workouts. I really was strong but I was only strong in a few areas. After doing the workouts with Shaun T I was able to get better results in agility, speed, and muscle toning. Shaun is always jumping from one thing to the next to make sure there is little break for my body.

It was gruelingly hard at first, but I got used to it and it worked out well for me. The trick is to keep with it and do your best regardless of how hard it is at first. It will get better I promise.

I guess you could say it’s like a military boot camp or college-level athletics training program. Whether you’re actually training to get your next-level game, you’re preparing for a military / police fitness challenge, or you just want an at-home program to help you stay in peak fitness, you won’t be disappointed with the Insanity Asylum workout!

Insanity Asylum Workout Goals
You’ll improve your coordination, balance, flexibility, agility and precision. You’ll learn how to tap explosive power and work your heart to the max. Shaun T provides tips for swimmers, football players, basketball stars, and runners to hit their “A” game. You’ll burn over 600 calories in under an hour, making you leaner and meaner than ever before! The Insanity Asylum workout is for fitness nuts who love a good, fun challenge.

Insanity Asylum Workout DVDs
With the Speed & Agility Insanity Asylum workout, you’ll do an intense cardio routine that helps you stay quick and light on your feet. Track stars, basketball players, soccer dudes and football players love this one! Next, the Vertical Plyo helps you jump higher and farther than ever before. If you want to reach that basketball net, dive into the competitive swimming world, or excel at the jump events in track, this DVD is it!

The Relief Insanity Asylum workout lets you take a little breather and work on lengthening your muscles and body sculpting. Strength gives you an important resistance training workout. My favorite is the Game Day Insanity Asylum workout, where you put your skills to the test. Back To Core gives you the glutes, abs and hamstrings you’ve always wanted.
